These cotton canvas tote bags are super special and unique, as I designed, screen-printed, and sewn all of the bags by hand, and there are a total of 5 ever made. The front design is illustrated and screen-printed by hand by me, using four screens onto a heavy-weight cotton canvas.

I can attest that these tote bags are very durable, as I‘ve been using one for work everyday for 3 years! (the print itself may fade over time) Be ready to stand out with this specially printed tote bag!

I created this screen-printed design based around the context of a chair that I chose to recover. The chair that I bought from an antique store is an 1890 English oak, so thinking of the Arts & Crafts movement of the same era, I wanted to take inspiration from the father of screen-printing. I referenced William Morris' use of mirroring and inclusion of flora and fauna. A bluebird symbolizes modesty, confidence, and transformation; freesia is spirited; hyacinth is sincerity. I used four screen separations to make the entire design.

After completing the project, I decided to make extra prints on the cotton canvas that I had—so that’s why there’s only 5 made!
